Tigers

The Tigers were swept by the A’s on Wednesday, losing 3-2.   Anibal Sanchez started for the Tigers, and pitched very well for a second straight time, allowing just a run on three hits and fanning eight in six innings.  Lefty Daniel Stumpf allowed two more runs in the 7th to make it a 3-0 game.  The Tigers mounted a comeback in the 9th.  They scored two runs on an Andrew Romine single.  It just wasn't enough, as Detroit fell 3-2 to the A’s. Eight of nine Tigers starters had at least a hit, with Jeimer Candelario having two on the afternoon. It's the eighth time Detroit has been swept this season and the fourth time at home. Home Run Leaders

Giancarlo Stanton has hit another one, his 56th.  The Marlins slugger is trying to become the sixth player to hit 60 home runs in a season, a feat first accomplished by Babe Ruth.  The Yankees’ rookie Mike Judge hit his 45th homer, which  also gives him 100 RBI’s to go with 100 runs and 100 walks this season-- a feat only accomplished by two other rookies---Ted Williams and Al Rosen.  Judge needs four more homers to break Mark McGuire’s record for a rookie.
