
25-Year-Old Mattawan Man Arrested as Suspect in Mattawan Baby Murder Case
An 18-month-old infant from Mattawan was admitted to Bronson Hospital Wednesday evening and showed signs of physical abuse.
On Thursday, the Mattawan Police Department and the Michigan State Police began a joint child abuse investigation concerning the baby.
The infant died Friday morning as a result of the injuries sustained during the abuse, according to a Michigan State Police press release.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested the suspect, a 25-year-old Mattawan man, Matthew Eric Knobloch, who was arraigned Friday afternoon on charges of open murder and is being held at the Van Buren County Jail on no bond.
