When Orville Gibson first made his guitars in the 1800's, he may have not known the impact it would one day make in the world of rock. Between 1974 and 1984, production of one of the most popular guitar brands stopped production in Michigan and the rights were sold to a company in Nashville. Now, Gibson guitars are coming home. According to Local 4, a Detroit company named Echopark Guitars, which was started in 2008 by Gabriel Currie, will be making officially licensed Gibson guitars in Michigan for the first time since the company left Kalamazoo.

Currie, originally located in Los Angeles, recently relocated to Detroit. She no doubt has a vision for the future of Gibson, as she's as personally made instruments for artists like Aerosmith's Joe Perry, Jackson Browne, Charlie Starr, Josh Homme, Joe Bonamassa, David Catching, Larry McCray, Dean Fertita, Jimmy Vivino, among others. Even though it isn't Kalamazoo, welcome home Gibson!
