The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team made two arrests and where able confiscate drugs and a weapon after spotting a suspicious vehicle in the area of Wilbur Hill Road and Mathews Street near Dowagiac around 9:30 a.m. October, 23.

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke says that a Uniformed Division of the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team noticed the suspicious vehicle without a license plate. The Deputy pulled the vehicle over further investigate the situation. The Deputy discovered that two occupants, a White Female and a White Male both 41 yrs old, had warrants for their arrest and were then taken into custody. During the search of the vehicle the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team found Methamphetamine, Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a .22 caliber semi auto handgun.

The Male subject was lodged for Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Firearms, Driving While License Suspended, Possession of Marijuana and he also had warrants for Breaking and Entering and Larceny. The female subject was lodged on a misdemeanor warrant. The names of the accused are being withheld at this time and the traffic stop remains under investigation at this time.

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team was assisted by the Dowagiac Police Department and Pokagon Tribal Police.
