The Harper Creek Beavers had a wonderful opportunity to make their first appearance in the Michigan High School Athletic Association State Finals in football. The challenge - the top-ranked Muskegon Big Reds.

It rained all day at East Kentwood High School, and Muskegon's offense reigned supreme in a Division 3 State Semifinal rout of Harper Creek 42-0.

The Big Reds will make their 10th State title appearance, and their third in the last four seasons. They finished runner-up last season behind Orchard Lake St. Mary.

For the Beavers, an undefeated season ends at a familiar spot in the postseason. Harper falls to 0-5 in State Semifinals in school history.
