A theft at a jewelry store in Kalamazoo County eventually led to a lengthy police chase across several Michigan counties and the arrests of several individuals.

According to MLive, three people entered Kay Jewelers in the 5200 block of West Main Street at around 8:00pm Saturday night, smashing display cases and grabbing several items. Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputies were notified and told that the three suspects fled in a vehicle and that a second “lookout” vehicle had also been spotted leaving the scene.

Both vehicles were later spotted in Jackson County at around 2:30 Sunday morning by Michigan State Police troopers. They began pursuit and eventually an MSP helicopter was brought in to assist in the chase along EB I-94. One vehicle was stopped in Washtenaw County and the second one made it into Wayne County, near the outskirts of Detroit, before being stopped.  All three suspects were taken into custody on numerous charges.

The names and ages of the suspects have not been released, although one of them is said to be a juvenile. Information regarding arrests of individuals who were in the perceived “lookout” car has not been released.
