Kalamazoo Man Sentenced For Carrying A Gun As A Felon
A Kalamazoo man will be facing 15 years in prison after he was caught with a gun.
The US Attorney’s Office for Western Michigan in Grand Rapids says that last week, 41-year-old Lamont Dixon was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for Felon In Possession of a Firearm. Dixon had three previous drug convictions, so his sentence was long due to mandatory minimum sentencing laws.
Acting US Attorney Andrew Birge says in a release that mandatory-minimum sentences like this one are “integral to our office’s mission to pursue justice”.
Authorities say that Dixon had a history of drug dealing and violent behavior.
