Kid Rock Launches Campaign Site for Michigan Senate Run
Back in February, it was revealed that Kid Rock was under consideration by the Michigan Republican Committee to potentially run for the Senate in the state. Now it appears as though the rocker may be ready to serve, as a new Kid Rock for U.S. Senate campaign site has surfaced online.
The site, www.kidrockforsenate.com, includes a link to all sorts of Kid Rock for Senate merchandise, including t-shirts, hats, bumper stickers and yard placards. There's also a photo of Rock in a posh looking office complete with a moose and a window shade the says, "Made in Detroit." Also on the site, you see the proclamation, "Are you scared?" and a cycling of platitudes including one that is a play on one of his songs, "You Never Met a Politician Quite Like Me." Those interested can also enter their email to receive updates.
When asked if the site was legit, Rock revealed via Twitter that it was, and he later followed that up with another tweet stating that he'll have a big announcement coming soon.
It remains to be seen if Rock is seriously contemplating a run at political office. It should be noted that the campaign webstore is being hosted by Warner Bros. Records, which could be a sign that the musician is merely parlaying the interest in his potential dive into politics as a marketing for merchandise.
If it does come to fruition, Rock would be challenging Debbie Stabenow for her Senate seat. Stabenow has held the position since 2000. Ted Nugent has also expressed an interest in the Senate seat as well.
