Calhoun County's non-profit with the mission to reduce the impact of Alzheimer's Disease and dementia locally has only been established for a few years, but has already had an effect on programs to assist those living with memory issues.

It started as a mission to keep people moving, capitalizing on the notion that movement and exercise can help those dealing with dementia. That continues, but Sherban tells WBCK Miles for Memories has been able to help advance a number of initiatives meant to close gaps in assistance in the area.

One of them is the Help Home program, a registry of sorts which gives law enforcement a file on a local person with dementia, so that if they wander, pertinent information about that person is already on file.
