Police in Portage have made an arrest in the rash of social media threats of violence at schools.

The Department announced on Facebook that a 17-year-old Kalamazoo woman and student at Portage Northern High School was arrested Thursday in connection to a social media threat made just after midnight Tuesday, forcing the closure of the high school and nearby Portage North Middle School.

Authorities conducted a search of the teen’s home finding no evidence of items that would have potentially been used in the threat, deeming the threat as not credible.

The teen is being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail on a charge of making a false report of terrorism.

It follows the arrest of a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old in separate arrests in Kalamazoo Tuesday following threats that closed Kalamazoo Central and Loy Norrix high schools, along with two middle schools in Kalamazoo Public Schools.

The investigation continues in Kalamazoo Township following a social media threat that forced Parchment High School to dismiss early Tuesday.
