Accidental ‘Whoops’ Catch Is the Football Play of the Year
If you can't wait until fall to see some incredible football plays, well, then you're in luck -- almost as much luck as this receiver had.
During a CFL game between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Blue Bombers wide receiver Ryan Smith caught a pass without even knowing it. Quarterback Drew Willy fired the ball to Smith's hip, where it latched on without him looking. He then scampered past the goal line (or whatever it's called in the CFL). It's the most accidental reception ever and a play that will make you do a double take.
Canadian football is weird -- it's played in summer, the goal posts are at the front of the end zone, you can actually be winning a game 1-0 and teams have hyphens in their names -- but this is a play that very easily could've happened in the NFL when a receiver goes across the middle.
