Oh That’s Just a Tree Growing Out of This House in Northern Michigan
Tucked away on a side street in Northern Michigan is a tree growing out of a front porch.
The house is located in the historic Upper Peninsula village of Calumet and was shared recently on Facebook-hosted Abandoned, Old and Interesting Places in Michigan.
And you can't get much more interesting than Calumet. The village, north of Houghton/Hancock in the Upper Peninsula's Keweenaw Peninsula packs a lot of history into 0.2 square miles.
The house, technically a duplex, above dates back to about 1900 and likely had the steps built around the tree.
Should you care to drive by if you make a visit, the house is on 10th Street, but please do be respectful as it is occupied.
Not too far away from this house is another unique piece of Calumet history - a sign for US 41, the main highway through the area is the oldest road sign of it's kind in America.
