Michigan State Police  troopers are investigating a crash that occurred overnight on I-69  near M-60 in  Calhoun County. One vehicle struck a deer on the southbound lanes and was left disabled in the roadway.  The driver and passenger were able to get out and walked off the freeway.
But then a second vehicle approached and hit the first.  The second vehicle bounced off the first and then veered off the freeway, through a ditch, and struck a tree.
First responders performed CPR on the driver, who was alone in the vehicle. The driver was transported to a local hospital, but pronounced dead after arrival.  The freeway was closed until earlier this morning.
