Two men were arrested in Kalamazoo last night after they are accused of stealing a large amount of cigarettes.

WOODTV says that on Monday morning, two men entered a store in the 3900 block of S. Westnedge Ave. and forced the clerk outside, before stealing over $1,600 worth of tobacco and fleeing. They were caught on surveillance camera, and Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers were able to examine their faces.

Around 9pm Monday night, an officer recognized one of the suspects, and detained them; a search warrant was obtained for a hotel room on S. Westnedge, and inside evidence of the robbery was found, and the second suspect was arrested outside.

Officers also learned that the two had been selling the stolen cigarettes. Their names are being held pending arraignment.
