Happiness Index Shows Michigan is “meh”
We're no Hawaii, but at least it's not as bad as West Virginia in Michigan. See how we ranked on the Happiest States in America list.
The U.S. has fallen one spot to 19th on the World's Happiness Report, and Michigan isn't doing so great compared to the other 49 states. Michigan ranked in the top 5 in terms of fewest work hours but that doesn't prove anything as we ranked #36 of the 50 states on the 2019 Happiest States in America findings.
What is it that makes us happy? Previous studies have found that good economic, emotional, physical and social health are all key to a well-balanced and fulfilled life. WalletHub examined the 50 states across 31 key metrics, ranging from depression rate to sports participation rate to income growth and indexed their findings. You probably won't be surprised to see Hawaii at the top of the list and maybe could have guessed West Virginia at the bottom. Michigan, clearly, has room for improvement.
