Former American Idol and popular local musician Matt Giraud is going to be in Battle Creek later this month to boost efforts in his ongoing campaign to fight hunger.

Giraud will host a fundraiser at the Pizza Hut located on E. Columbia Avenue in Battle Creek from noon to 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 18 as part of the Matt Giraud Fights Hunger fundraiser. Along with the Columbia Ave. location, all Battle Creek area Pizza Huts are participating in the fundraiser from 11:00 am until 11:00 pm with 20 percent of the proceeds going to his fundraiser. Giraud will use the funds to sponsor Battle Creek's Free Community Christmas Dinner in December.

Supporters of the fundraiser must present a coupon at the time of your dine-in or carry-out purchase. You can print the coupon from his Facebook page at the link HERE.

The Matt Giraud Fights Hunger fundraiser is a capital campaign to raise $3 million dollars to build and operate a commissary in Kalamazoo. A fleet of food trucks will be dispatched to provide free dinners to homeless and hungry citizens living in West Michigan.

Matt Giraud, who was raised in Ypsilanti and graduated from Western Michigan University, started a GoFundMe that will benefit CALTRAN, a Michigan-based hunger-relief charity. You can also send a tax-deductible check or money order to:
