More Construction to Tie Up Columbia at Riverside Drive

Starting on Monday, Sept. 9, the Columbia Avenue water main project will progress and change, now limiting traffic through the intersection with Riverside Drive.

• Traffic driving east and west on Columbia will not be able to make left turns onto Riverside.
• The traffic merge on Columbia – between Capital Avenue SW and Riverside – will move to the west, to allow water service installation.

While construction barrels still will be present at the Columbia and Capital intersection, traffic will be able to turn and travel in all directions.

Engineers estimate this Riverside intersection work will take approximately two weeks.

City of Battle Creek officials highly encourage neighbors who use Columbia Avenue to seek alternate routes in the coming weeks, as crews continue to replace the water main between Capital Avenue SW and Riverside Drive.

They expect this project to take place through late September, weather permitting. The water main has a recent history of breaks, resulting in this project.
