The Battle Creek Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies will, once again, participate in a local National Night Out event.

Police Sgt. Chris Rabbitt says Battle Creek's  local, family-friendly and free event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Mill Race Park, at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Capital Avenue SW.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign from the National Association of Town Watch, which promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our communities safer, better places to live. Events take place nationwide the first Tuesday in August.
