All Star Game

Todd Frazier played the role of hometown hero in the Home Run Derby Monday night. The Reds' third baseman beat Joc Pederson in the finals, 15-14, at a raucous Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.  Frazier took advantage of this year's new format and hit the winning blast in bonus time.  The American League and National League meet at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati for the All-Star Game tonight.

Tigers’ outfielder J.D. Martinez and shortstop Jose Iglesias are both on the mid-summer classic roster for the first time and pitcher David Price is making his fifth appearance as an All-Star. Miguel Cabrera was voted in to start at first base, but was sidelined after a calf injury. The winner of tonight's game will secure home field advantage for their league's representative in the World Series. The National League has only won three times in the last 18 years and they’ve only won 9 times in the last 30, but they still lead all time, 43-39.  There have been two ties.

Bombers

The Bombers beat the Kalamazoo Growlers 4-3 last night. Centerfielder Dan Swain had  three hits, knocked in three runs and scored two to lead the Bombers.  Edgar Sanchez went seven innings, giving up two runs on three hits, struck out 5 and walked none. Mason Marshall got the save. The Bombers morning game with the Kalamazoo Growlers was washed out on Monday. It has been rescheduled as part of a double header on July 31, with both games at C.O. Brown Stadium. The first game on July 31 will be at 11:05 a.m., and the second game will start at its regularly scheduled time of 7:05 p.m. The Lacrosse Loggers are in town for a 7:05 game tonight.

On Saturday, July 18, part of the ticket price at the Bombers game goes to Miles for Memories. A great way to support the fight against Alzheimer’s and see a baseball game!
