The Battle Creek Bombers lost to the Rockford Rivets 12-8 to fall into second place in the North division.

Rockford scored six runs in the first off Flint’s Tyler Kirkwood.  The Bombers battled right back, scoring three in the first and three in the second.  The two teams played it close until a three-run eighth put the game away for the Rivets.

Tom Stoffel, Alex Howard and Nick Walker all homered for the Bombers, and Nehwon Norkeh went three for three and knocked in two runs.

The game was delayed by nearly two hours after authorities located a "suspicious" device a mile south of the ballpark.  That turned out to be a bag of garbage.

The Bombers will have an off day on today and then play the final four home games of the regular season Thursday through Sunday in Battle Creek.

The team will play the final seven games on the road, as the NABF World Series gets underway next week.
