The KCC Bruins baseball team beat Macomb Community College 23-12  in 7 to start play in the National Junior College Tournament Wednesday at C.O. Brown Stadium.  KCC plays LCC today at 11:30am at Nichols Field.  The double-elimination tournament runs through Saturday.  The winner heads to the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, Oklahoma, starting May 27th.

NBA Playoffs

The Cleveland Cavaliers have won nine straight post season games, after beating the Celtic in Boston, 117-104.   LeBron James had 38 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.   Kevin Love had a playoff career-high 32 points and 12 rebounds.  Game 2 is in Boston on Friday night.

Golden State leads San Antonio two games to none in the Western Conference Finals.   Game three is Saturday night in San Antonio.

NHL Playoffs

The Ottawa Senators scored four times in the first period to chase goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury in a 5-1 win over the visiting Penguins. Game four is Friday night at Ottawa.  The Senators have a two-games-to-one lead in the NHL's Eastern Conference finals.

The Nashville Predators have a two-games-to-one lead over Anaheim in the NHL's Western Conference finals.  Game four is tonight in Nashville.

World Hockey

Team USA plays Finland today at 10:15am in the hockey world championship quarterfinals.

Griffins Play in San Jose

The Grand Rapids Griffins play at San Jose on Saturday night in the AHL Western Conference best of seven finals.  Game 2 is Sunday in San Jose, and game 2 is Wednesday May 24th in Grand Rapids.

High School Baseball

Marshall swept Hanover-Horton, 18-10 and 13-3.

Bronson swept Concord, 15-0 and 13-2.

Softball

Bronson swept Concord, 11-5 and 12-0.

Marshall 2, Harper Creek 0.  Lauren Day had her 11th shutout of the season.  Katie Foster and Taylor Horn scoring for Marshall.

MSU Football Schedule

Michigan State will face the Miami Hurricanes and Boise State in a pair of home-and-home football series.  The Spartans will host Miami in 2020 and will play the Hurricanes on the road the following season.  Michigan State will play at Boise State in 2022 and will host them the following season.

Preakness

“Always Dreaming” is the early favorite in the 10-horse field for the Preakness as the Kentucky Derby winner will start from the No. 4 post.

Nascar

Richard Petty Motorsports says Regan Smith will drive for Aric Almirola this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Almirola fractured a vertebra at Kansas Speedway last week.

Tigers

The Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles in the second game of a three game series, Wednesday evening. Tyler Collins hit the first of two homers in the second inning as the Tigers scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. Baltimore took a 3-2 lead in the fourth against Tigers' starter Michael Fulmer.  They added a run in the 5th to lead 4-2, but Collins hit a three run homer in the Tigers' half of the inning to make it 5-4 Tigers. Michael Fulmer went seven innings, giving up four runs, three earned.  He improves to 5-1 on the season.  Alex Wilson pitched a perfect 8th and Justin Wilson pitched out of trouble in the 9th for his third save.
