Sports: MSU, Michigan win Big Ten Games
Michigan State beat Rutgers 93-65 Wednesday night. Miles Bridges had six points and six rebounds in a 17-minute return from an ankle injury. Eron Harris scored 24 points. The Spartans (11-5, 3-0 Big Ten) have won four straight.
Bridges, the 6-foot-7 forward, and Michigan State's leading scorer and rebounder, played for the first time since Nov. 29. He missed seven games with a sprained ankle. Michigan State's Nick Ward had 15 points and Matt McQuaid scored 12. Hear the Tom Izzo Show tonight at 7 on WBCK.
Michigan beat Penn State 72-69. Derrick Walton scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, and Michigan stormed back from a 14-point deficit. It was Coach John Belein’s 200th win at Michigan.
WMU 85, Miami of Ohio 60.
CMU 89, Akron 62.
Toledo 66, EMU 49.
KCC lost to Ancilla, 68-65. The Bruins are 3-8, and 0-1 in conference play. Coach Ben Reed says he’s seen a lot of growth in the team, but they didn’t execute down the stretch.
Women’s Basketball
Ancilla 54, KCC 41. KCC falls to 1-9 and 0-1 in the conference.
Boys Basketball
Battle Creek Central beat Harper Creek, 79-37. Juan Warren led BCC with 21 points.

Girls’ Basketball
Harper Creek beat Battle Creek Central, 54-23. Madelyn Alexander led Harper Creek with 16.
Red Wings
The Red Wings were shut out last night in Anaheim, 2-0. John Gibson made 23 saves in his eighth career shutout. Nick Ritchie scored in the first period and Ondrej Kase scored late in the third. Petr Mrazek stopped 22 shots. Detroit began a three-game California road swing with its eighth loss in 11 games overall. Detroit plays tonight against the Kings in Los Angeles.
Lions
The Detroit Lions say head coach Jim Caldwell will be back for the 2017 season, regardless of whether the team wins this Saturday in Seattle. Caldwell told reporters that he appreciated the team’s vote of confidence, but said he would not be answering any questions about it. The Lions play the Seahawks in an NFC Wild Card Game on Saturday night. Broadcast time is 7:15pm on WBCK.
Junior Hockey
The U.S. beat Russia 4-3 in a Junior Hockey semifinal shootout Wednesday at the at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Troy Terry scored on all three of his shootout attempts, the last in the seventh round to give the US the win. The Americans will face Canada in the final tonight.
Pistons
The Pistons host Charlotte tonight.
