The Pistons lost the 76ers 97-86 Monday night at Little Caesar’s Arena.  Detroit fell behind by 21 again in the second quarter and climbed to within three in the fourth.    Ben Simmons had a triple-double in his fourth NBA game.  Simmons had 21 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, showing off the skill and versatility that made him the No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft before he missed all of last season with a foot injury.  Joel Embiid scored 30 points for Philadelphia.  Tobias Harris was held to 11 points. The Pistons had a cold shooting night, making only 33-of-85 shots and hitting just 20 percent from beyond the arc.  Andre Drummond picked up 14 points and 14 rebounds. Reggie Jackson had 16 points and Avery Bradley added 15 points.  The Timberwolves come in on Wednesday.

Red Wings

The Red Wings head to Buffalo for their next game tonight.

Baseball Playoffs

The World Series gets underway tonight in Los Angeles.  Left-handers Clayton Kershaw and Dallas Kuechel will square off.  Justin Verlander will start game 2 for Houston, against Dodger left-hander Rich Hill.

Monday Night Football

Carson Wentz threw for four touchdowns as the Eagles beat the Redskins, 34-24 in Philadelphia.

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will play at least one more game as he awaits another ruling from a federal judge on his six-game suspension over domestic violence allegations.  An October 30th  hearing date is set, and will be the  day after the Cowboys play the Redskins.

Lions

The Lions host the Steelers this Sunday at Ford Field.  The Lions have activated defensive tackle Khyri Thornton and waived quarterback Brad Kaaya. Thornton was suspended for the first six games of the season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.  Thornton started six games last season and is expected to fill a need after defensive tackle Haloti Ngata was lost for the season with an elbow injury.

Volleyball

The KCC Volleyball team ends the regular season tonight at Ancilla College.

High School Football playoffs were announced Sunday night by the MHSAA.  Ten area schools are in, including two from Battle Creek.

College Football

MSU is at Northwestern….2pm on 95.3 WBCK.  The Spartans are 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the Big 10, along with Penn State and Ohio State.

Michigan hosts Rutgers this Saturday…11am on 104-9 the Edge.  Both teams are 2-2 in Big Ten play.  The Wolverines have lost two of their last three games. Michigan is two games behind division leaders.

The WMU Broncos are off his weekend and Host CMU on Wednesday November 1st at Waldo Stadium.  (8pm).  Western is 3-1 in the MAC.  CMU is 4-4 overall and 2-2 in Conference play.
