Red Wings

The Red Wings beat the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, 3-2 in overtime at Joe Louis Arena.  Mike Green scored first for the Wings.  Tomas Tatar had a power play goal to tie it up at 2 in the third period.  In the extra period, Jimmy Howard, celebrating his 33rd birthday, made a big save. Gustav Nyquist got the rebound and found Andreas Athanasiou, who won it for Detroit.  Howard made 24 saves.  The Red Wings skate in Carolina tonight.

NCAA Tournament

The final four is set for next weekend. North Carolina plays Oregon and South Carolina takes on Gonzaga. The games will be played Saturday in Glendale Arizona.

Women’s College Basketball

Two women’s games will be played tonight to determine the NCAA final four.  UConn takes on Oregon.  The winner plays in the final four next weekend against Mississippi State.  Stanford plays the winner of tonight’s South Carolina-Florida State game.

The Michigan women's basketball team is in the WNIT quarterfinals.  They won their second straight without 2016 Miss Basketball winner Kysre Gondrezick.  The school says she is taking an indefinite leave of absence for "personal reasons."  Michigan next plays Villanova.  Washington State takes on Georgia Tech.  The WNIT final is Saturday at 3.

WMU Hockey
WMU lost to Air Force and Michigan Tech lost to Denver in college hockey’s Sweet 16.  Denver and Notre Dame come out of that tournament the winners.  They play April 6th, as do Harvard and Minnesota-Duluth.   The winners play for the Hockey championship on April 8th.

Tigers

The Tigers lost to Toronto, 4-3 Sunday, as closer Francisco Rodriguez blew the save.  He gave up two runs in the ninth.  Jordan Zimmerman started and pitched well.  Nick Castellanos had a double and home run and is hitting .367.  The Tigers play Atlanta today at Disney World.  Daniel Norris will start for the Detroit.

Pistons

The Pistons are in New York to play the Knicks tonight and finally head home Tuesday against the Miami Heat.  Detroit recalled Henry Ellenson from Grand Rapids.

KCC Baseball

KCC beat Muskegon Community College, 9-5 and 14-4.   Eugene Roberts went 2-4 with a home run and knocked in three runs in game 1.  Ralphe Gross went two for three and swiped three bases in game 2.

Nascar

Kyle Larson wins at Fontana.   Brad Keselowski was second, and Clint Bowyer was third.   Larson also won the Xfinity Series race on Saturday.

Golf

Dustin Johnson won the Match Play in Austin, finishing a week where he never trailed in any of his seven matches.
