Sports: Red Wings Shut Out First Place Montreal 1-0
The Red Wings beat the Montreal Canadians 1-0 in a Monday afternoon game. Thomas Vanek scored late in the second period and Jared Coreau earned his second shutout. The 6-foot-6 Coreau, the tallest goaltender to play for the Red Wings, stopped 18 shots to improve to 5-1-1 in his first season with Detroit. Detroit won consecutive games at home for the first time since starting the season 4-0 at Joe Louis Arena as part of its 6-2 start. The Red Wings began the day in last place in the Atlantic Division. The Atlantic Division-leading Canadiens had won five of their last seven games. The Red Wings host Boston on Wednesday.
Pistons
The Pistons host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. The teams have split two meetings, with the Pistons winning 121-85 in Atlanta on Dec. 2. The Pistons are coming off win over the Lakers on Sunday. The Hawks beat the Knicks on Monday.
Wheatley to Jaguars to Coach
The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired former Michigan standout Tyrone Wheatley as running backs coach. Wheatley spent the past two years coaching running backs at his alma mater. Before that, he spent five years working for new Jaguars coach Doug Marrone. Wheatley coached running backs with the NFL's Buffalo Bills (2013-14) and on the collegiate level at Syracuse (2010-12). Marrone was the head coach at both stops.

NFL Playoffs
The Green Bay Packers heads to the NFC championship next Sunday against Atlanta. The Pittsburgh Steelers play Sunday at New England. Green Bay's thrilling, 34-31 last-second win over Dallas in the NFL playoffs drew a record number of viewers to its television broadcast. Fox Sports reports that an average of 48.5 million people watched the game. That would make it the most watch NFL divisional playoff game in league history.
