Sports: Spartans 70, Wolverines 62
Michigan State beat Michigan, 70-62 on Sunday. The Spartans go to 13-9 overall and 5-4 in Big Ten play and won their fifth straight over Michigan. The Wolverines fall to 4-5 in the conference, but 14-8 overall.
Cassius Winston scored 16 points to lead MSU. Miles Bridges had 15 points and 13 rebounds. Nick Ward had 13 points for the Spartans.
Derrick Walton scored 19 of his season-high 24 points after halftime for the Wolverines, but he didn't get a lot of help. Michigan's leading scorer, Zak Irvin, was scoreless on 0-for-8 shooting after not being able to practice in the days leading up to the game because he hasn't been feeling well.
Michigan was held to 34 percent shooting, its worst performance in the Big Ten this season, after making 63 percent of its shots in a 30-point win over Indiana at home on Thursday night.

MSU is at Nebraska on Thursday. Michigan is off this week until Saturday when they host Ohio State.

The top-ranked Villanova Wildcats needed a late rally to avoid their second consecutive loss and third of the season. A tip-in at the buzzer gave the Wildcats a 61-59 win over 12th-ranked Virginia.
KCC’s men’s and women’s teams got wins on Saturday over Glen Oaks Community College. The men won 87-74, led by Curtis Trigg’s 16 points and 8 rebounds. The women won 78-48. Taylor Jungel scored 20 with 10 rebounds. Ally Fuller had 15.
Tennis
Roger Federer has won his fifth Australian Open title. The win over Rafael Nadal makes the 35-year-old Federer the oldest man since Ken Rosewall in 1972 to win a slam. It's his 18th career major title and his first since Wimbledon in 2012. .
Federer was just 2-6 all-time against Nadal in Grand Slam finals. Both players were coming off long layoffs created by injuries. Federer was playing his first competitive tournament since taking six months off because of an injured left knee. Nadal had been sidelined for two months due to a left wrist problem.
Pro Bowl
Alex Smith and Andy Dalton threw touchdown passes as the AFC topped the NFC, 20-13 in the Pro Bowl at Orlando.
Smith hit Delanie Walker for a 26-yard TD and Dalton found Travis Kelce for a 23-yard score while the AFC was building a 20-7 lead. Lorenzo Alexander secured the victory by intercepting Kurt Cousins deep in AFC territory with just over a minute to play.
NFL GM’s Hired
Fox Sports football analyst John Lynch has been hired as the new general manager of the San Francisco 49ers. The Indianapolis Colts have hired former Kansas City executive Chris Ballard as their new general manager.
Pistons
The Pistons lost to the Miami Heat on Saturday and try to break a two-game losing streak tonight in Boston. They’re home this week to play the Pelicans on Wednesday and Timberwolves on Friday.
Red Wings/NHL
The Red Wings resume action tomorrow following the All-Star Break, as they host the New Jersey Devils.
The Metropolitan Division won hockey’s All-Star game. Florida forward Wayne Simmonds and Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson scored five seconds apart as the Metropolitans turned a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 win over the Pacific Division in the midwinter classic in Los Angeles.
Golf
Spaniard Jon Rahm eagled two of his final six holes to win the PGA's Farmers Insurance Open by three shots over Charles Howell III and C.T. Pan.
The 22-year-old Rahm became the youngest tournament champion and the first player in 26 years to get his initial PGA Tour title at Torrey Pines.
