On Monday, recall language was announced once again in Albion, seeking the recall of Mayor Pro-Tem Sonya Brown. The Calhoun County Clerk’s Office says that the recall was submitted November 22 by a resident in Albion’s Precinct 3, in Brown’s district.

The Calhoun County Clerk’s Office says that on Friday, Albion Resident Chad Baase submitted the new language, which cites Brown’s behavior towards City Manager Sheryl Mitchell, as well as evidence that a woman filed a Personal Protection Order against Brown for allegedly stalking her.

The Clerk’s Office says that the petition language seeks to recall Mayor Garrett Brown, and Council Member Sonya Brown from Precinct 3. The Calhoun County Election Commission will review the recall language on October 31, to determine if the language is factual and clear, before the petitions can be circulated among the voters.

Tuesday, September 26 is National Voter Registration Day, and the Calhoun County Clerk’s Office wants to get as many people as they can registered. Chief Deputy Clerk of Elections Teri Loew says that this November, there will be important elections at the local level, and since in Michigan you need to register 30 days before an election, you need to get registered soon.
