On Monday, recall language was announced once again in Albion, seeking the recall of Mayor Pro-Tem Sonya Brown.

The Calhoun County Clerk’s Office says that the recall was submitted November 22 by a resident in Albion’s Precinct 3, in Brown’s district. The recall language says that Brown should be recalled for giving City Manager Sheryl Mitchell poor scores on her recent performance review, and for having a “desire to undermine Dr. Mitchell.”

A recall petition had been filed last month for Sonya Brown, but it was withdrawn shortly before the Calhoun County Election Commission voted on it.

The Election Commission is set to review the new petition language on Friday, December 8, and if they determine the language is factual and clear, petitions will be circulated seeking valid voter signatures; 96 are needed to get the recall on the ballot.

Earlier this month, the Election Commission approved recall language for Albion’s Mayor, Garrett Brown. Brown's recall is sought for the same reasons regarding City Manager Mitchell, as well as allegations that he had a PPO filed against him for stalking a woman in Albion.
