A 32-year-old Springfield resident spent the night in jail following a wild series of events. It started with what county Sheriff’s Deputies report was an assault on his girlfriend.
The Michigan State Police noticed a suspect early Friday morning in Kalamazoo County, who was believed to have been involved in an armed sexual assault and kidnapping earlier that day.
The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says Sunday that they were investigating tips regarding a suspect who was wanted on multiple felony warrants, who had been on the run for over two weeks.
The incident started around 11:45pm Saturday, as a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Capital Ave. near Bailey Park for a traffic violation.
The chase began after Emmett Township officers were called to a medical emergency, but the driver sped off when they arrived, reportedly striking a medic on the scene.

The chase took place Friday evening, after a vehicle fled with young women who allegedly had been shoplifting. The crash left one of those teens badly hurt.
