Public Safety Office In Jackson County Is Now Hiring Officers

A police department to the east is now hiring.

The Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety in Jackson County says on their Facebook they are looking to fill a Public Safety Officer position, a job that involves the duties of both a police officer and firefighter.

Applicants must pass a physical and psychological exam, a drug test and a background check, and be certifiable as a police officer with the state. They also say applicants who already have firefighter and medical first responder certifications will be given preference.

The position has a starting salary on April 1 of $53,178 plus a "competitive benefit package, including a defined benefit pension plan". Pay can go all the way up to $69,299.
