Investigators in Battle Creek have determined that a fire that caused around $20,000 in damage to a vacant house was started intentionally.

The fire occurred the night of August 19, at a structure in the first block of W. Roosevelt in Battle Creek, and caused significant damage to the main house.  A detached garage on the property also was burned.

Authorities from the Battle Creek Fire Department, Battle Creek Police Department, and Michigan State Police investigated, and said late Wednesday that the fire was arson.

Further details aren’t available as the investigation is ongoing.
