I am happy to report about some great news for our Great Lakes.

It is being reported that per the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers our Great Lakes’ water levels are rising is just the first 12 days of April.

We are being informed that this rise is due to the seasonal lake level rise and an earlier snow melt.

Since April 1st our Great Lakes have risen the following levels:

  • Lake Superior has risen 0.96.

For your information the S. Army Corps of Engineers informs us that a one-inch rise in Lake Superior corresponds to 550 billion gallons of water.

  • Lake Michigan has risen 3.2 inches
  • Lake Huron has risen 3.2 inches

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers considers Lake Michigan and Huron as the same lake for water level purposes because they are connected by the Straits of Mackinac. Their 3.2 inch rise in water levels has added about 2.5 trillion gallons of water.

  • Lake Erie has risen 3.7 inches, which added 481 billion gallons of water to the Great Lakes water system.

And

  • Lake Ontario has risen an incredible 10 inches, which added another 1.6 trillion gallons of water to the Great Lakes water system.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers the Great Lakes water levels have added a total 5.1 trillion gallons since April 1st.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has informed us that is enough water for all 318 million Americans daily total water use for an amazing 164 days.

We are told this is good news but I can see the Global Warming enthusiast claiming that this water rise is due to what, Global Warming.  Will they then say this is bad news, pointing to our shorelines becoming overwhelmed by this increase, I would bet so.

The problem they would have to get around is that this is being touted as good news for the Great Lakes.

If the news was the Great Lakes water levels have decreased, the Global Warming enthusiast would be claiming that this is also due to Global Warming.

It is a win win situation for them, or is it?
