High School Basketball – Vikings Rally Past Tigers

The High School Boys Basketball schedule in the state officially tipped off Monday with our Game of the Night featuring a fantastic non-conference battle of two former St. Joseph Valley foes.

For the second straight season, the St. Philip Fighting Tigers began their campaign with the Bronson Vikings. Last season, the Tigers ended a three-game losing skid to the Vikings. It was also their first win on the road against Bronson since 2010.

In the season debut, St. Philip was looking to start the season with a victory for head coach Mike Kimber, who became varsity coach during the off-season after being the JV coach for several years. Bronson was looking for an opportunity to forget their three-win season last year.

Check out the recap below with all the scores from the opening night for the Boys squads. A vast majority of the area teams get underway Tuesday, including the other four Battle Creek squads.
