HS Basketball: Bearcats Slam Their Way Past Spartans

The Battle Creek Central Bearcats had six seniors that played their final game in the regular season at home, but they should be warmed up for their district opener after a stellar performance Thursday night.

Thanks to a 21-0 run that stretched through the final 13 minutes of the first half, the Bearcats would run away with a 68-45 victory over the Lakeview Spartans. After a 6-6 tie, senior Brett White would score six of his game-high 18 points in the first quarter during the run. Junior Juan Warren would add six of his game-high 18 points in the second quarter during the run. It was very identical between White and Warren, who also had five rebounds a piece.

The Spartans would go scoreless in the second quarter, trailing 27-6 at the half in the loss. Senior Gavin Homer was the lone Lakeview player in double figures, scoring 14 on the night.

The Bearcats end the regular season at 14-6, winning 10 of their last 11 games. They will host Parma Western in the Class A District Quarterfinals Monday at 7pm.

The Spartans fall to 6-13 on the season and conclude their regular season Friday at Portage Central against the Mustangs. Lakeview held off Portage Central at home on February 16th in a 35-34 nail biter.
