We enter Week 3 of the High School Football season and with that, the early season success could prove positive for the remaining six weeks of the regular season.

Tonight, two crosstown rivals take to the gridiron in downtown Battle Creek, as the Battle Creek Central Bearcats welcome the Lakeview Spartans. These two teams have played each other every years since 1963. For the longest time, it was the regular season finale for both squads. Since 2014, this rivalry has been a Week 3 staple. Since then, Central has held a 3-2 series lead, including wins the last two seasons.

The Bearcats earned their first win on the season on the road at Gull Lake last week. The Spartans enter the contest 2-0, matching last year's win total and looking for their first 3-0 start since 2016 - their last playoff appearance. Lakeview earned a 28-12 home win over Mattawan, the first home victory for second-year head coach Jerry Diorio.

Check out the preview of tonight's Game of the Night, as all the area schools play tonight, including pivotal contests in the Interstate 8 for Harper Creek, Pennfield and Marshall. Climax-Scotts looks to stay undefeated as they renew an rivalry with Bellevue in 8-Man. Finally, can state honorable mention Olivet stay undefeated with a road trip to Stockbridge?
