Lions

The Lions beat the Vikings 16-14 Sunday to take over the Division lead.  Detroit is 10-and-4.  Matt Prater kicked three field goals, including a 3-yarder with 3:38 left in the fourth quarter for the win. Matthew Stafford threw for 153 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. The Lions close out the regular season at Chicago and at Green Bay.

NFL

The Packers have never won a game in Buffalo.   Mario Williams's sack-strip resulting in a safety in the final minutes sealed it as the Buffalo Bills took down the Green Bay Packers 21-13 at Ralph Wilson Stadium.   Green Bay is 0-6 there. Aaron Rodgers went just 17-for-42 for 185 yards and a pair of picks as Green Bay had its five-game winning streak snapped.

 

Three teams in the AFC have clinched their respective divisions. New England defeated Miami 41-13 to win the AFC East. Denver topped San Diego 22-10 to take the AFC West. Indianapolis won the AFC South following a 17-10 win over Houston.

In the NFC, Arizona clinched a postseason berth after Dallas defeated Philadelphia on "Sunday Night Football."

The Bears welcome in the Saints to Soldier Field for "Monday Night Football." Chicago has already been eliminated from playoff contention at 5-and-8.  The Bears are coming off a 41-28 setback to Dallas 11 days ago. New Orleans is looking to keep pace in the NFC South at 5-and-8.  They are currently second in the division behind the 5-8-and-1 Panthers. They lost 41-10 to Carolina last time out.

MSU Spartans

The MSU Spartans beat Oakland 87-61 on Sunday night.  Denzel Valentine had 19 points to lead MSU.  Branden Dawson added 15 points for the 23rd-ranked Spartans.  MSU hosts Eastern Michigan on Wednesday.

Michigan was no match for Arizona, losing to the third-ranked Wildcats Saturday in Tucson. U-of-M, who has lost three-straight, is 6-and-4 and hosts SMU on Saturday.

Pistons

The Detroit Pistons close out their three game road trip tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers. Detroit has won the first two games at Phoenix and Sacramento to end their 13-game losing streak.   After Saturday’s game, the Kings fired Coach Mike Malone.

Kobe Passes Jordan

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan for third on the NBA's all-time scoring list during Sunday's win over the Timberwolves. Only Kareem Abdul-Jabar and Karl Malone are ahead of Bryant on the all-time list.

Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings open a four-game homestand tomorrow night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

MSU Hockey

The Spartan hockey team beat Clarkson 6-4. MSU is off until December 28th.

MSU Women’s Basketball

MSU’s Women’s Basketball team beat Loyola Chicago 90-38.  Their next game is Tueday night as they host Alcorn State.
