Battle Creek city officials say crews will begin replacing a 4-inch water valve today (Tuesday August 27th)  resulting in a temporary water outage and a road closure for some city residents.

During this work, West Street, between Champion Street and Garfield Avenue, will be closed. Emergency vehicles will still have access. Motorist are asked to seek alternate routes.

Crews will begin work at 7 a.m. and is scheduled to be complete by 4:30 p.m.

Residents in the area West Street, between Champion Street and Garfield Avenue (which includes West Street Apartments and Battle Creek Central C.W. Post Stadium) are expected to be impacted.  Residents should be prepared to be without water during the listed hours and for potential boil water advisories when service returns.

Areas and times could be changed due to unforeseen circumstances once work begins.
