Stalking Democrat and Wanna Be Congressmen
We have heard endless news reports about the sexual harassment and assaults concerning Republican candidate for Senator in Alabama Roy Moore. Have you heard any news reports about a Democrat running for congress in New Mexico?
Last Friday David Alcon, who is running for an open congressional seat in New Mexico was arrested for felony stalking a women and it was not his first arrest for that offense. Are you surprised you have not heard of that yet, I was?
The Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper reported about the charge and arrest but they are one of the few new organizations reporting on this arrest.
The paper stated:
A Santa Fe judge signed a warrant for Alcon’s arrest nearly two weeks ago, after a Santa Fe woman told police she was at a Halloween party when Alcon sent her a number of threatening text messages. A criminal complaint filed by Santa Fe police said Alcon’s texts told the woman he was watching her, wanted to have children with her, and contained a picture of his genitals.
By the way Democrat David Alcon has been convicted in the past for this very same crime. In his previous stalking conviction, David Alcon was accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home, leaving notes and flowers on his ex-girlfriends truck, and of sprinkling rose petals on her porch the morning before his trial began. For this crime David Alcon was actually convicted and was sentenced to three years’ probation.
According to a search of the television database TV Eyes, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC have given zero, yes I mean zero on-air coverage on David Alcon’s arrest. When I state zero on-air coverage you might think they covered this big story and scandal on their websites, well they have not.
How much time has the major “news” networks ABC, CBS, and NBC spent covering the Roy Moore controversy on air, well between November 9 and November 13 they spent approximately 79 minutes talking about Roy Moore’s accusations.
Let’s look at the two controversies and attempt to discover what the differences are that could account for their decision to cover one and not the other.
Roy Moore has been accused of sexual harassment and assault but not charged with any crime. David Alcon has been arrested and charged with the crime of felony stalking.
Roy Moore’s accusers have provided no evidence of their accusations, David Alcorn’s accuser has provided evidence, that being texts.
Roy Moore is a Republican, David Alcon is a Democrat.
Well with those set of facts I guess I still cannot figure out why the “news” organizations have decided to run endless reports about Roy Moore and ZERO reports about David Alcon, can you? One was not charged, one was. One was arrested and one was not. One has evidence against him the other does not.
No, still cannot figure out the difference.
Oh wait, I might have just noticed something. I guess if you read between the lines it might be that one is a Republican and the other a Democrat.
Might that be it?
Maybe, maybe not. Someone should ask these reporters and anchors what the difference is that caused them to have endless coverage on one and zero coverage on the other one.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for that.
What matters is who determines the content of their news reports and who drives the agenda of the day.
