A mysterious parvo-like virus is rapidly working its way through Michigan. Here's what we know so far.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed mosquitoes in Michigan have tested positive for Jamestown Canyon Virus.

The Barry Eaton District Health Department is now confirming attachment-at least one case verified in Barry County. And since testing for this one is a bit different than what is typically done, the department says there are likely other cases in the area that just haven’t been pinpointed yet.

Most of the cases have come at correctional facilities.

The only problem is they are designed to go on the outside of the mask, where you typically cannot see. So you’ll need to have someone else alert you, or check in a mirror from time to time.

B.1.1.7 spreads more easily between people, but there has been no indication that it affects the clinical outcomes or disease severity compared to the SARS-CoV-2 virus that has been circulating across the United States for months.

This report comes as the state had planes in the air over a number of areas in lower Michigan overnight spraying to control mosquitos that carry the virus.

Any of these symptoms may appear anywhere from 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.

People in closely confined areas may be among the most susceptible to contracting the virus from someone else.

A Berrien County farmer has been identified as the 6th fatality from the mosquito-borne virus Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) for 2019.
