A Battle Creek teenager was arrested this week after police say he stole a van.

The Battle Creek Enquirer says that the owner of the van reported it stolen Monday morning, and then around 7:30pm that same day he called again and said he saw his van at a gas station on Emmett St; he confronted the boy and three females in the vehicle, and the boy said that the van was owned by his godmother. All the people inside then ran away.

Battle Creek Police say they found the four walking in a parking lot near Kellogg Community College, and when they tried to arrest the boy he fought with officers before attempting to run; however, he was tackled and taken into custody. The 17-year-old suspect told police he found the van running, and had been using it to drive around all Monday before he was confronted by the owner.

Police also found 4 fake $100 bills in his pocket, but he refused to say where he got them.
