The latest in an apparent statewide string of burglaries at car dealerships struck in Calhoun County yesterday.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says Thursday afternoon that sometime between 8:30pm Wednesday and 8:30am Thursday, 15 new cars at the Cole Chrysler Dealership in Marshall Township had their windows smashed, with the high-tech infotainment systems being stolen, and thousands of dollars in damage being done.

CBS Detroit reports that in that same time frame, 33 vehicles at Extreme Dodge in Jackson were broken into in a similar manner, so Calhoun County authorities are collaborating with other agencies to determine if the incidents are connected.

A few car dealerships throughout Michigan have suffered similar incidents; WXYZ reports in December that a car dealer in Troy, in suburban Detroit, had more than 80 vehicles damaged. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone with information please come forward.
