For the second time, a petition to recall Sonya Brown as Mayor Pro-Tem of Albion has been rescinded.

Calhoun County Deputy Clerk of Elections Terri Loew says Thursday morning that on Wednesday, the Clerk's Office received a letter from Petitioner Tom Lowe. In the letter, Lowe says that he was "satisfied" with Sonya Brown's side of the story, regarding her alleged treatment of City Manager Cheryl Mitchell.

The recall petition filed on November 22 had sought Brown's removal because it was believed Brown had a "desire to undermine Dr. Mitchell." That petition had been filed, after one that had been filed in October was cancelled. As a result of this new cancellation, the Election Commission meeting scheduled for December 8 has been cancelled.

A recall effort for Albion's Mayor Garrett Brown is still going forward.
