Authorities Warn Of Two Phone Scams

Authorities in Calhoun County say they are receiving a large amount of reports about residents within the county receiving scam phone calls from someone claiming to be the I.R.S. This is a scam and those who receive calls are asked to contact the I.R.S. Scam Report Line directly to report the call. Their number is 1-800-366-4484. If contacted you are asked to not give out any personal information or money.

Authorities at the Marshall Police Department are warning of another scam involving calls. The caller claims you have legal matters that needs to be resolved within 24 hours or the local authorities will take you into custody. The phone calls are not legitimate and the caller is trying to obtain credit card information, bank account information or will ask you to wire money somewhere.
