Battle Creek’s citizens are feeling happier with the City itself, according to a new survey.

The City says that they worked once again with the National Research Center out of Colorado to send a survey to a random sampling of 3,000 people, with about 20 percent of those actually responding and filling the survey out.

According to those respondents, residents are happier with how the city handles things like street repair and snow removal; citizens also said they were using public transportation, public parking, and paths and walking trails more. The city says they are particularly pleased with a 10 percent increase in satisfaction with the city’s customer service.

As they move forward the city hopes they will be able to increase engagement with residents who speak languages other than English; the survey had instructions mailed out in Spanish and three dialects of Burmese, but only one non-English speaker responded.

The complete results of the survey can be seen at battlecreekmi.gov/citizensurvey.
