Battle Creek City Commissioners will return to chambers after the Thanksgiving holiday with their first of two December meetings.

One item on the agenda involves a possible name change to the W.K. Kellogg Airport. Commissioners will discuss the potential change to the Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field. It would be the eighth name change since the airport opened in 1925.

The potential change is part of the airport’s Strategic Business Plan that was completed in 2017, with a vision of making the airport the local and international airport in Southwest Michigan for aviation education, military, air cargo and non-scheduled air carrier services.

Other items on the agenda include the possible revoking of an Obsolete Property Rehabilitation Exemption Certificate on a building on West Columbia Avenue, the potential special use permit for a tattoo parlor on West Columbia Avenue, and the acceptance of a Department of Justice grant from the Battle Creek Community Foundation for the Battle Creek Police's victim's advocate program.

The meeting Tuesday, December 3rd is at 7pm at City Hall.
