It’s tax season, and the City of Battle Creek will be doing things slightly differently this year.

In previous years, the city says that local taxpayers mailed their forms to Lansing; this was done because a grant with Lansing and other Michigan cities helped cover the costs of form and payment processing. This year, however, they say it’ll be less expensive for Battle Creek to accept local tax returns directly.

City of Battle Creek tax returns should be mailed to Battle Creek City Income Tax, PO Box 1657, Battle Creek, MI 49016-1657.

Tax forms and instructions on how to fill them out can be found at the City’s income tax office at City Hall, which is Room 114 at 10 N. Divison St. They can also be downloaded from the City’s website.

E-file is also an option for your local taxes; that can also be accessed at battlecreekmi.gov. The forms and e-filing can be accessed by scrolling down to the City Spotlight section and clicking Income Tax.

Local tax returns are due by April 30.
