City of Battle Creek Considering New Electronic Billboard on Beckley

Commuters along Battle Creek’s busy Beckley Rd. corridor could be seeing a new sign advertising things to them.

The Battle Creek City Commission is meeting next Tuesday, and on their agenda is a resolution to enter into a lease agreement with Adams Outdoor Advertising for a portion of land at 5230 Beckley Rd. near Capital Ave; it allows for construction of a V-shaped electronic billboard north of the Water Tower, right across the street from Premiere Jewelers.

The lease would bring in $25,000 annually to the City of Battle Creek, and the city would be allowed to use unsold space on the billboard for public service announcements. It also provides for the construction of a City welcome sign, with the costs deducted from the lease.

Adams wants to move forward with more targeted advertising like this sign, and remove five billboards that are under-performing in Battle Creek.
