A preliminary exam for a man charged with the shooting death of a local business owner has been delayed.

47-year-old Brian Zanetti was expected in Calhoun County Circuit Court Monday to determine if he will stand trial in the murder of 63-year-old Frankie Zanetti. The attorney for Brian Zanetti filed a motion to delay the exam for his client to undergo a mental competency exam.

The request was granted and the hearing will take place at a later date.

Frankie Zanetti was shot and killed May 5th inside of Battle Creek Tile and Mosaic. Brian Zanetti was arrested days later in a Chicago suburb.
