Sentencing has taken place for a Battle Creek man who prosecutors say was responsible for the crash that killed 30-year-old Jessica Lambert over 2 years ago.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that 21-year-old Ethan Everett was in Calhoun County Court Monday, and sentenced to between 2 and 15 years in prison. Everett pleaded no contest to driving under the influence causing death, after prosecutors say he had alcohol and drugs in his system when his car collided head-on with Lambert’s in September 2015.

At his plea hearing, Everett said he didn’t remember the events of that day, and Lambert’s family said this week it felt like he wasn’t taking responsibility for his actions.
