You can’t get more local than this when it comes to cheese and ice cream! Try and buy award-winning KBS cheese, and enjoy free MSU ice cream – in sight of the cows whose milk the dairy products come from! Visit the W.K. Kellogg Farm’s Pasture Dairy Center on July 24 during our Dairy Open House from 4 – 8 p.m.

At this free, fun, and family-friendly open house, we invite the public to learn about where dairy products come from, and about agricultural landscapes in Michigan. Enter to win a free lunch for 2 at KBS’s McCrary Dining Hall, or a year’s membership to the W.K. Kellogg Manor House!

This event will be held at the Pasture Dairy Center. The entrance is on North 39th St., one block west of the intersection at North 40th St. and East B Ave. The Farm Office’s address is 10461 N. 40th St., Hickory Corners, MI 49060. To learn more about the Dairy Open House or about the Pasture Dairy Center’s work and research, visit kbs.msu.edu, call 269-671-2402 or email pasture.dairy@kbs.msu.edu.

The Pasture Dairy Center uses robotic milking technology, a system allowing cows to set their own milking schedule, and features 220 acres of pasture devoted to grazing research with a focus on sustainable agriculture and ecosystem services. The barn at the Pasture Dairy Center was the first livestock building in the U.S.to receive a silver level certification for Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED).

The W.K. Kellogg Farm is part of the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station. Celebrate with us our legacy of conservation as we mark 90 years since W.K. Kellogg donated the lands that now make up KBS to Michigan State University. Our commitment to research, education and outreach stands on the foundation of W.K. Kellogg’s vision for cutting-edge science and learning.

As MSU’s largest off-campus educational complex, we’ve put our land-grant values into practice as we’ve provided the public with examples of science’s crucial role in sustaining natural and managed communities for nearly a hundred years. As we look forward, our students and faculty are working to understand and solve real-world environmental problems for a better tomorrow. To learn more about KBS, visit us online at kbs.msu.edu.
